Welcome to Room 14!

Welcome to Room 14.
My name is Mrs. Martinez (will be Gutierrez soon, I got married last year).
This is my first year here at Sycamore Academy and I am looking forward to a great year with my students.
I am a firm believer in open communication with parents/guardians, so feel free to send me and email and I will get back to you shortly.
A little bit of a background bio for myself:
I grew up in Lake Elsinore and went to school in the Lake Elsinore School District. I am very familiar with the Wildomar area and love the unique look and atmosphere of our school here at Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts. With our Charter School, our students (and teachers) are given wonderful experiences that they would not normally have at a traditional public school, such as integrating art and music into the learning experiences.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Multiple Subject Elementary Teaching from Brandman University, and am currently finishing my last 2 classes to complete my Master's Degree in Elementary Teaching as well. In addition to my studies, I was picked to attend a NASA Research educators' professional development training at the AMES research lab in Northern California. While there, I received extensive training on how to implement engineered-based STEM and STEAM projects for the classroom. This was a wonderful opportunity for me since I love astronomy and anything space-related.
I have a husband named Cody and our son Triton, will be a one year old this September! (Time flies!)
I love to travel and have been to Colorado, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Louisiana. I am hoping to eventually travel out of the country to Ireland or maybe a fun island such as Fiji!
For fun, I like to attend concerts, snowboard, skateboard, play the drums, and spend time with my family and friends.
I am looking forward to a great year with my students!!!!
We are implementing Kagan Strategies in the classroom to help engage the students, get them up and moving, as well as help them interact with others effectively. I am very excited to begin the year!

Winterfest basket Reminder

Dear parents and guardians,
This is a friendly reminder to please bring in any of the Winterfest basket items that you may have signed up for on the Sign Up Genius website.
We need these items by Thursday December 6th so that the basket can be put together and decorated prior to the event.
Thank you!

Winterfest Event
Our annual Winter Festival will be held on December 7th. Each class has to provide a basket for the silent auction and the proceeds come back to the classroom. I have signed up for an International Food Adventure Basket. The picture above is just an example of a basket that we can create with our foods. Below is a sign up genius for donations, as well as volunteers to help put it all together. Thanks in advance for your help! Gift cards for Stater Brothers work since they have an International Foods sections that I can help pick out items from. Or, you can go and have your own adventure at the store and donate some items as well! Anything interesting and different will work for this basket. Thank you so much in advance.
